"In
the future, watching humorous videos could become a
standard component of some medical procedures," says
Dr. Stuber, who released the results today of a new
study on laughter’s pain diminishing effects,
at an American Medical Association media briefing on
pain management. Excerpt from Laughter Tested as Pain
Therapy for Children.

Supporting Critically Ill Children Through Film
For
many years, KIDS FIRST!® has donated thousands of DVDs,
videos, audio recordings, and video games to children's
hospitals and related institutions. An important part of
the Coalition's mission is assisting the many children's
hospitals around the country who provide care to sick and
terminally ill children. These children, whose lives are
already difficult, don't have much to do or watch during
the day. The programs donated not only distract them as
they undergo invasive medical treatments but offer them
a sense of goodness in the world and hope.
Now,
through the combined efforts of Corporations for Character,
KIDS FIRST!®, and your generous donation, we can fulfill
our mission to provide positive, encouraging movies into
each of more than one million children's hospital beds.
This effort will provide entertainment for children while
they are confined in a hospital.
This
is how we plan to achieve this challenging goal: Through
special arrangements, KIDS FIRST!® is merging the newest
hardware with films that have been endorsed by us to provide
a box that can be placed in every children's hospital room.
This box has more than 45 hours of positive, up-lifting,
fun programs for kids between the ages of 2 and 15.
This
program is supported by private donations of $10.00. Each
donor provides the equivalent of one feature film for this
box. By donating $10.00, donors help bring hope to hundreds
of children who are hospitalized today. The benefit far outweighs
the small cost.
